Digital microscopes
Digital microscopes Digital microscopes allow the image to be viewed via a computer. There are two types of digital microscope. A true digital microscope has a built in CCD chip camera. Standard compound microscopes are often referred to as digital if they have a digital camera attached to them. You can purchase a digital camera designed to work with a compound microscope, which covers the eyepiece to capture the images, thus saving the expense of having to replace a standard microscope with a digital version. Using computer software normally supplied with digital microscopes, you can edit and resize your image to use in a PowerPoint presentation or other document for research, medical or educational uses. You can enhance college and university lectures by displaying the images on LCD monitors, plasma screens or TV monitor. Digital microscope field kits are ideal for younger children, to introduce them to the world of microscopy and kits can include small, simple to use, digital microscope, software designed for young children and accessories for taking samples of pond life and nature on field trips.
